    Pierced For Our Transgressions
The belief that Jesus died for us, suffering the wrath of his own Father in our place, has been the wellspring of hope for countless Christians through the ages. However, with an increasing number of theologians, church leaders, and even popular Christian books and magazines questioning this doctrine, which naysayers have described as a form of “cosmic child abuse,” a fresh articulation and affirmation of penal substitution is needed. And Jeffery, Ovey, and Sach have responded here with clear exposition and analysis. This Book is a MUST READ. The cost is only $25.00 + $4.00 S/H

    Comments

Westboro Baptist Church truly is a cultic group. If you listen to enough Fred Phelps' sermons and read their blogs and writings (as I have), you can't help but get the impression that WBC considers itself the only legitimate Christian congregation in the United States, if not the entire planet. They are what are called "Hyper-Calvinists", who does not believe in the necessity of preaching the gospel to every creature, despite the Lord Jesus' command to do so. Hence, you do not get the gospel of grace and forgiveness of sins on any of their picket signs.

But the thing I'd like to know is this: who is supporting these people financially? How are they able to do their picketing "ministry" somewhere in America every day? Though WBC doesn't solicit contributions from outsiders, I wonder if some super-rich liberals aren't footing some of WBC's expenses, perhaps thinking in doing so they are furthering their agenda in promoting their idea of Christianity as solely a religion of hate and bigotry.

In the interview, Shirley Phelps-Roper sounds a lot like that loud-mouth Monica Dennington, who you critiqued some weeks back. Her manner of commenting was almost purely shrill. I'd bet a debate between Monica and Shirley would be quite interesting.

Ask Shirley what happens if she died before she repented of that day's sin. Is she toast then?
I'm sure glad Jesus paid for all my sins. Past present, and future so I am saved and not toast!
    Thank you, Jesus!

Oddly, these two (Phelps-Roper and Hipps) are flip side of the same coin: all law, no Gospel. Satan doesn't care what we're lookin' at, as long as it ain't the Triune God...

Good post! A lot of people I've spoken with have still never heard of this church and it's activities.
Besides the obvious negativity that this group spreads, the saddest thing is the kids that are involved in this church. They may never get to actually choose their own spiritual path. They've been totally brainwashed by this twisted 2 dimensional version of Christianity.

I wrote something up about the church as well and threw up a couple videos of them and a picture of a toddler holding a sign that says "you will eat you babies"
    Ridiculous.......
