    Chris,

You really agreed with 98% of this? I found myself only agreeing with about 50% of it. The theme that came across in this lecture (at least for the first 20 or so minutes) was: "God does not love the world as much as He loves the elect". So if you are not in the John 3:8 category (whatever that means), God just doesn't love you enough to save you. To be honest, it was difficult to stomach.

That whole comparison between the John 3:16 love and the John 3:8 love is a false dichotemy. He set it up as his foundation for this talk about regeneration and never departed from that foundational thesis. It wasn't just a little Calvinism... it was nothing but Calvinism. This was not the pure Gospel. There was too much leaven; too much error from the error of the limited atonement. For the rest of the talk I had to wonder if this stuff even applied to me since I might not be divinely loved as much as John 3:8.

I was unable to cherry-pick out the true statements from their depressingly bleak context.

    I love this radio show.
    You are on theologybytes too.
    Keep up the good work.

    Good point Mike.

Always lurking behind Calvinist statements is that doubt of whether or not I am one of the elect. They can get up and proclaim the wonders of the Gospel...but I never really know if it applies to me. I can guess/hope/yearn for it...but I cannot say with certainty that it is mine.

It's sad how Calvinists can offer the Gospel with the right hand, but then snatch it away with the "limited" left hand.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe there are Calvinists who are Christian, who actually believe the Gospel. It puzzles me, however, why they try so hard to talk themselves out of it.
