God bless you, Chris. I am amazed at how patient and generous you are with these false teachers. I find listening to them a huge chore and it brings to mind the scripture "Be ye angry, and sin not:" (Ephesians 4). On the other hand, there are days when I am not angry but rather I am deeply grieved. Today, for instance. Sigh.
I praise the Lord that Jesus, the good Shepherd, searches for his lost sheep because they will never be brought to the truth in these emergent seeker-sensitive 'churches'.

Chris,
Great show. I took a little bit to comment because the 'Stupid People' sermon had my blood boiling and I needed to calm down and comment a little more civilly than I would have at that time.
It absolutely and morbidly fascinates me that any so-called pastor could use so little of God's Word, mangle what little he did use, then spend the rest of the time exegeting his own life and dishing out pop-culture psuedo-intellectual therapuetic psychobabble and think he's done anything at all for all the souls in his audience.
As you pointed out, his backpeddling in spineless manner (I mean, if your so brazen as to call everyone stupid, have the guts to stand by it and not weasel out) was atrocious and obvious.
Having the congregation repeat his own words but not God's? I mean, what's one to think except that this 'pastor' obviously thinks his own word is far more important and needful to the memory of the flock. Wow. Can you imagine being so wonderful, that your own word rivals that of God's, or is even more important for people to take away from the service? Me neither.
His canned jolly nature insults my intelligence and his love of life-coaching irritates me as I imagine all the people in that audience who need forgiveness of their sins going away emptyhanded except for the concept that everyone who needs them is annoying and stupid.
You know what would have been great? If he was going to preach law, law, law.... at least make it biblical law. Not contemporary psychological life steps.
I believe this is the second time I have listened to you review a 'sermon' from this fellow. He has not improved. But at least he serves as a basic primer for teaching believers how to distinguish a pastor from a goatherder.

Oops, also wanted to add:
He certainly took every opportunity to give us facts and figures on all the good deeds his church is doing, didn't he? Boy, I bet he has a whole rehearsal to recite to Jesus about everything He's done for Him. Impressive stuff.
I'm pretty meager and profitless, so I'll just hope not to be found with a righteousness of my own but instead having the righteousness of Christ imputed to me.

From a theological standpoint, the "stupid people" sermon had more in common in Rome than they care to admit. First, the "sermon" paints man as spiritually sick and not spiritually dead. Second, the "sermon" paints a picture of what we must do. Jesus is passive in all of his examples while we are active.
