Chris,
There is an element of theology in Gilligan's Island on a side comment you made. The seven characters are patterned after the "seven deadly sins".
* Gilligan is laziness
* Skipper is wrath
* Ginger is lust
* Mary Ann is envy
* Professor is pride
* Mr. Howell is greed
* Mrs. Howell is gluttony
While this is neither Law nor Gospel, the show did illustrated how our sinful nature clauses all types of problems in our own lives as well as our lives with others.
All human conflict is the result of our sinfulness. We can only have peace with other when we have Christ's peace with God first.
