    Comments

The motivational talk by Kerry Shook should be entitled the Recycle Zone. I used to attend his church for about 5 years. I left two years ago because I finally saw the light.

As I listened to this episode, I wrote down quips, sayings, etc. that I had heard Kerry say in many other speeches when I used to attend. They are the following (keep in mind it has been two years since I have attended):

    • Blessed Zone
    • Stress Zone
    • God blesses you to be a blessing
    • God gets the leftovers
    • Sandcastles on the beach
    • Worth what someone would pay
    • Self worth, net worth

Kerry simply recycles his messages with different themes every year. Chris, you did an excellent job of accurately critiquing this shameful message. Not only did Kerry fail to mention the verses of the Sermon on the Mount starting at chapter 5 that would have accurately set the context of what Jesus was teaching, but he conveniently stopped before chapter 7. I would like to hear how he handles verses 13-23.

13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

My family and I now attend a good Bible teaching, God centered church. Today, Pastor Richard Caldwell continued his series on 1 Peter. It was entitled, “The Work and Wonder of Eldership” and covers 1 Peter 5:1-4. I recommend you listen. I recommend all pastors, elders, and all professing Christians listen. It can be heard at:

Thanks Chris for all you do!
