    Great Show!

    Chris:

What does the life-hating life look like? What does the husband- or family-hating life look like, because we know that Jesus was setting up a contrast and not *literally* commanding us to hate our spouses or families, because that would obviously conflict with other Biblical mandates. Likewise, what is the Biblically-sanctioned manner of enjoying one's life, if there is one? (And I believe there is.)

    Grace to you.

    Chris,

Thanks for responding to my e-mail on the air. And yes, I think the Osteens are heretics, too, and their gospel is a false one.

Your comment about the first commandment was spot-on and helpful. However, we in the U.S. are not currently living under the kind of persecution as Paul was. I understand that we very well could, and no Christian totally escapes being hated or reviled for Christ's sake. I certainly have been mocked for my faith, but at this time, it has not meant the destruction of my livelihood, property, family or my very life.

I am, actually, living in a time of blessing, and I am continually grateful for God's mercy and blessing in my life, and in that sense I enjoy my life, as David in the Psalms talked about being grateful for God's blessings, both material and spiritual. Yet, sometimes, I wonder if I'm too darn comfortable. And I wonder how one can be grateful and enjoy the blessings of marriage, family, etc., and still "hate" life the way Jesus called us to.
