Earth is the presence of the Lord?? Didn't Jesus say that his kingdom is not of this world, that Satan is the ruler of this fallen world because of man's fallen nature, and that the earth is the Lord's footstool. Isn't the Lord's throne in heaven, but will not not be on the earth until the New Jerusalem descends from heaven? Am I missing something?

He sounds like the kind of guy that will not confront sin and look the other way instead. Jesus didn't cowar like that. He didn't compromise his word to make it relevant for the unsaved. The Bible is culturally relevant is it is. The problem arises when men try to put there added flare or creative spin on it for the sake of not offending the unsaved. The gospel is offensive to those who are perishing. That is just the way it is. No easy way around it folks!

I think that Pagitt's presentation of the gospel and his definition of truth could be affirmed by all of my college professors..... He sounds so smart and in-touch with the post-modern, Lelio Sozzini-esque, question everything mentality.
Good questions, and I appreciated the spirit you took in the interview (though my flesh was wanting you to scorn him for his post-larry king interview comments about MacArthur)
Grace and Peace...

Paggitt's claim that the 'prosperity gospel' is not an American phenomonen is laughable. Africa has been seduced by American TV, movies, music and magazines for years, into believing that the American life is the standard that we in Africa should try and achieve. The prosperity preachers (most of whom are American) have seen the 'gap in the African market' and positioned themselves to try and take advantage of the greed and unsatisfaction that American consumerism has birthed on our contenant. They (Creflo Dollar, The Copelands, TBN and the rest of the Armani-ists) take advantage of the poor people in the same way that the lottery does - both promise a better quality of life, but only if you pay up front.

Did he say anything of substance? He talked a lot but didn’t say anything. We truly need to pray for those in this movement.

He hit a few right notes with me, but most of the time, I didn't know what in the world he was talking about. I'm trying to imagine Jesus talking like that, and it makes my head hurt.

Leemiles,
I agree with what you are saying about the prosperity gospel. I am sorry that my country exports that garbage. I am doing what I can to expose it and so are other American Christians. Just tell your people not to listen to those wolves who peddle the Word of God for profit. If God does judge America, it will be because we deserve it... abortion, Hollywood, false gospels, PaxAmericana, and the lust for world domination. I served in the Marine Corps about 6 years before Sept. 11. Things are going downhill fast here. Please pray for the Christians who live here, that they will be wise and will be able to endure what is coming here.
In Christ,
Josh

Mr.Paggitt's analysis of many of the problems with "American Christianity" are on point. His understanding of the unity of body and soul is correct as well.
His view of tracks was very helpful as well. Why use tracks when Holy Scripture is better.
However, by placing one's experience as one of the ways that one experiences God is very dangerous. Given how sinful we are, our experience and emotions are the worst way to understand God.
Another issue that concerns me is that he does view Holy Scripture as having a central theme: redemption of sinful man by a holy God.
